MissouriServes would not be possible without the support and resources
from the following agencies:
| The Corporation for National and Community Service |
 |
The mission of the Corporation for National and Community Service is to
improve lives, strengthen communities, and foster civic engagement through
service and volunteering. To accomplish these goals, the Corporation
provides grants and training and technical assistance to developing and
expanding volunteer organizations. In addition, the Corporation explores,
develops, and models effective approaches for using volunteers to meet the
nation's human needs and conducts and disseminates research that helps
develop and cultivate knowledge that will enhance the overall effectiveness
of national and community service programs.

| AmeriCorps |
 |
AmeriCorps is a network of local, state, and national service programs
that connects more than 70,000 Americans each year in intensive service
to meet our country's critical needs in education, public safety, health,
and the environment.
AmeriCorps members serve with more than 3,000 nonprofits, public agencies,
and faith-based and community organizations. Since 1994, more than
400,000 men and women have provided needed assistance to millions of
Americans across the nation through their AmeriCorps service. Full-time
members who complete their service earn an AmeriCorps Education Award
of $4,725 to pay for college, graduate school, or to pay back qualified
student loans. Members who serve part-time receive a partial Award.
Some AmeriCorps members may also receive a modest living allowance
during their term of service.
AmeriCorps is a program of the Corporation for National and Community
Service, an independent federal agency created to connect Americans of
all ages and backgrounds with opportunities to give back to their
communities and their nation. The Corporation also oversees Senior Corps
and Learn and Serve America. Together these programs engage more than 1.5
million Americans of all ages and backgrounds in service each year.

response to the National Community Service and Trust Act of 1993. The
Commission awards grants to local organizations in order to establish
AmeriCorps and other National Service programs.æThis body oversees the
AmeriCorps programs across the state, as well as operating as a "point"
organization that promotes and recognizes service volunteers. The
Commission is dedicated to fostering opportunities for all citizens to
serve in their communities and supports quality service programs. The
mission of the Missouri Community Service Commission is "to build stronger
communities by fostering an ethic of service in all Missourians."
